Ye Share of Plunder

So. Pirates have turned out to have historically been very democratic and egalitarian. More so than any other occupation during the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. Pirates had a set code of hierarchy among their crew to determined how looted goods should be distributed. Gold and silver was not a pirate’s common plunder or treasure, sailing equipment and medicine were highly sought after. In fact, a sea doctor’s equipment was worth $470,000 in modern values! A pirate’s captain and quartermaster would always distribute these kinds of plunder equally and fairly among their crew.
